Sift the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder together. Cut in the shortening. Add the milk gradually, forming soft dough. Place a teaspoon of dough in small greased muffin tins. Cut the apricots in half and remove stones; place one-half in each tin, then a few walnut meats. Cover with another spoonful of dough and bake in a hot oven (400° F.) for fifteen minutes. Ice with confectioners' sugar icing while hot. Pitted stewed prunes may be used instead of apricots. Fold edges together. Repeat until 4 tablespoons grated cheese have been added. Chill. Roll to one-eighth inch thickness. Cut in strips one by two and one-half inches.
