Pit dates and cut into quarters. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add dates and nuts to flour mixture. Beat eggs. Add melted butter. Dainty Nut Wafers 4 tablespoons shortening ]/2 teaspoon salt y^ cup sugar 2 tablespoons milk 1 egg I teaspoon vanilla iH cups flour K cup chopped nut meats I teaspoon baking powder Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually and continue cream- ing. Add the egg. Beat well. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to the creamed mixture, alternately with the liquid. Add vanilla. MLx thoroughly. Spread very thin on bottom of greased baking pan and sprinkle with finely chopped nuts. Bake fifteen minutes in moderate oven (350° F.). When done remove from oven and cut in strips two inches by four inches. While hot place each strip over the handle of a wooden spoon.
